Kısa özet
İkinci Dünya Savaşı'nın işgücüne dahil etme politikaları, kadınların imalat ve savunma sanayilerindeki katılımını önemli ölçüde artırarak cinsiyet stereotiplerini zorladı ve savaş sonrası ev yaşamına dönülmesine rağmen modern kadın hakları hareketinin temellerini attı.

Ana noktalar
- İkinci Dünya Savaşı politikaları, kadınların imalat, savunma, ulaşım ve kamu yönetimi alanlarındaki katılımını artırdı.
- Savaş zamanı istihdamı, kadınların yetenekleri ve ekonomik rolleri hakkındaki yerleşik cinsiyet stereotiplerini zorladı.

Özet (abstract)
The Second World War marked a transformative period in the social and economic history of the United States, particularly in redefining the role of women in the workforce. Wartime labor shortages prompted the federal government to introduce a range of workforce inclusion policies, recruitment campaigns, equal employment directives, and vocational training initiatives that encouraged women to enter industries traditionally dominated by men. This study examines how specific World War II policies related to women's workforce participation influenced gender roles during the 1940s and 1950s in post-war America. The study aims (i) to analyze the major wartime policies and programs that facilitated women's employment during World War II, (ii) to examine the impact of these policies on changing perceptions of women's social and economic roles in post-war America, and (iii) to evaluate the extent to which wartime employment experiences contributed to long-term transformations in gender norms despite the post-war return to domesticity. The research adopts a qualitative historical research methodology based on secondary sources, including government documents, wartime propaganda, congressional records, census reports, scholarly books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and archival materials. A thematic and comparative analytical approach has been employed to examine policy implementation, women's labor participation, post-war employment transitions, and the evolving discourse surrounding gender equality. The study further interprets historical evidence within the broader framework of gender studies and labor history to understand the relationship between state intervention and social change. The findings reveal that wartime workforce inclusion policies significantly expanded women's participation in manufacturing, defense production, transportation, and public administration, thereby challenging long-established gender stereotypes regarding women's capabilities and economic roles. Although many women were encouraged or compelled to leave industrial employment following the war due to demobilization and the reintegration of returning servicemen, the wartime experience permanently altered public perceptions of women's productive potential. The emergence of greater educational aspirations, increased labor-force participation in clerical and professional occupations, and growing demands for workplace equality during the 1950s laid important foundations for the modern women's rights movement of the 1960s.
