Abstract

This mixed-methods study examines successful aging within the Iranian-Islamic lifestyle among 109 older adults (65+) in four residential complexes in Tabriz, Iran. Results show that "relationship with self" ranked highest and "relationship with others" second, while "relationship with God" and "relationship with nature" ranked third. Complexes performed best in spiritual and self-related dimensions but poorly in social and environmental ones, indicating that social and environmental needs are systematically neglected. Current complexes only partially support successful aging, highlighting the need for age-friendly housing that involves older adults in design and evaluation..
