Abstract
University–museum collaboration increasingly supports informal and experiential learning in higher education, yet museum educators and university partners often lack practical tools to assess how such experiences shape student development. This study presents a pilot test of a bilingual English–Chinese survey instrument designed to assess university–museum engagement, learning motivation, and student competency among Art and Design undergraduates in Henan Province, China. The pilot focused on museum-related courses and learning activities connected to university teaching across varied museum and cultural learning contexts. Of 98 responses collected, 82 valid cases were retained after screening. The study offers an initial tool for documenting broader forms of student development and guiding future validation for museum education practice.
