Identità "in absentia" : sulla lirica di Salvatore Quasimodo

Abstract

Il saggio tenta di rivalutare la lirica di Salvatore Quasimodo, al di l della ben nota controversia se esista un primo o un secondo Quasimodo.Dietro il variarsi di motivi, stili e note patetiche c' una doppia struttura pertinente della sua opera: da una parte si mantiene una grammatica iconologica che fa della sua opera una importante testimonianza della sua poetica discorsiva che, dopo la prima guerra mondiale fino agli anni sessanta, si eretta critica di un razionalismo tecnicistico, incline a ideologie dittatoriali.D'altra parte c' una intenzione fondamentale mai messa in dubbio: rifare l'uomo -proprio tramite il trobar clus di un mondo immaginario ma inducendo cos a un pensare vivificante.The essay aims at revisiting Salvatore Quasimodo's poetry beyond the well known controversy whether or not it exists a 'first' and a 'second' Quasimodo.Behind the varying of motives, styles and emotive notes of his poems, a double continuity prevails.On the one hand, from the First World War on, his iconologic grammar established, like in Ungaretti, Montale or Saba, an instance of criticism towards a rationalism susceptible to acquire the dictatorial inclinations of those times.On the other hand, there is a fundamental intention he never questions: rifare l'uomo, to restore the idea of man, through the imagery of his modernist poetry, thus leading to a new vivifying thinking.
