Özet (abstract)
Background Empirical research has examined the impact of data analytics on firms’ market and financial performance, but rarely on product performance on which the former heavily relies. Drawing on recent research findings from inductive case studies and especially the business-organization-technology ecosystem perspective emerged in this line of research, this study conceptualizes business data analytics capability as outcome of the interplay of data management, data-oriented business strategy, and open systems culture and then examines its impact on new product development, a strong indicator of product performance.Methods Survey data was collected and then analyzed to test the research model.Results Data management, data-oriented business strategy, and open systems culture help to promote the growth of data analytics capability, which then positively contributes to new product development.Conclusion Data analytics capability enhances new product development, but developing this capability depends on the integration of data management, data-oriented business strategy, and an open organizational culture.
