Abstract

Bedside ultrasound can evaluate the properties and volume of gastric contents, help anesthesiologists to aspirate the surgical patients, adopt appropriate anesthesia programs, reduce the anesthesia complications. Point-of-care ultrasound is widely used in clinical anesthesia because of its advantages of portability, speed and accuracy. This article reviews the application of bedside gastric ultrasound in perioperative evaluation of reflux aspiration, focusing on the methods and criteria for measuring gastric contents by bedside gastric ultrasound, as well as the risk of reflux aspiration in special populations. At present, the effectiveness of ultrasound in bedside stomach has been confirmed to some extent. It is important to evaluate the risk of aspiration during perioperative period and to guide the management of intraoperative anesthesia. Key words: Ultrasound; Reflux; Aspiration
